Abstract

In this research, a water soluble vitamin B8 (Inositol) sometimes referred to as phytic acid which has been shown to be effective in treating diabetes mellitus was used to study the hypoglycemic effect. Banana, grapes and orange are the rich inositol food source. The study shows that inositol has anti-diabetic effect on streptizotocin induced diabetic rats and has potential use as a hypoglycemic agent.
